Catherine Morland: Oh, I love charades! Which one shall we play? Oh, I know! We’ll play a game to decide. I must say I enjoy a good game. Not as much as a good book, you understand. I know! Let us play a literary game. I will ask you questions, and you answer them. I suppose if you are not familiar with these texts, you could always find them in the library.

Henry: I gather that all these questions of yours will be about gothic novels, aren’t they?

Catherine: Nonsense! In fact, the first one is about a poem!

Henry: And the others?

Catherine: Well…the others shall all be about gothic novels. But you must admit, they are the most interesting and the most horrid!
